Click here for Fixtures Vagabonds are hosting their 19th Easter Festival of Rugby over the weekend of 14th - 16th April 2006. In times of increasing professionalism, the Festival gives all participating teams the opportunity to relax away from the pressures of league rugby and to enjoy the sport as it used to be enjoyed. The Festival comprises 15-a-side matches, Sevens Tournaments and lots of 'entertainment' !! Friday 14th April - On Good Friday, we have the competition for the ABC Cup, sponsored by Intersport, which is played in memory of three young Vagabonds who lost their lives in an accident just over three years ago - Adam Pope (Popey), Benje Jones and Anthony Shaw (Chewy). This will be played between Tamar Saracens, whom we welcome back as probably our most regular visitors over the years, and a mostly young Vagabonds side. There will be other fixtures but details of these are not available yet. The Clubhouse will be open during the day for lots of liquid refreshment and nourishing food to soak it up !! Saturday 15th April - Easter Saturday sees not only the Ladies Tournament, but also the Manx Cup Challenge Match. More women's’ Clubs than ever before have entered this year and the teams, Slough, Carlisle, Tewkesbury and Bradford University and our own Ladies team will be participating in a round robin between 11.30 and 3.00 p.m.for the Cain’s Cup and Cain’s Shield. One of the main events of the weekend is the Manx Challenge Cup Match, sponsored by Heron and Brearley which is due to kick off at 3.00 p.m. This match takes place between Vagabonds and Waterloo. The
evening is spent 'at leisure' enjoying the sights, sounds, clubs and bars
of Douglas !! The highlight of the Festival is the Sevens competition on Sunday, sponsored by the Outback Sports Bar and Nightclub. There will be competitions for both men's sides and ladies' sides. Registration is from 10.30 a.m. The prize presentation will take place immediately following the final, around 5 p.m.
